MARY SKINNER Director and Producer
California filmmaker Mary Skinner produced and directed In the Name of Their Mothers, about Polish heroine Irena Sendler who organized a conspiracy of young women during World War II to save hundreds of Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto. In 2011 it was broadcast on National PBS and went on to win the Gracie Award for best documentary produced and directed by a woman for Public television. In 2012 Skinner directed and produced a short film about Microsoft Education Award winner TeachAIDS. At the Midpen Media Center, she produces a regular program about Poland and Central Europe.
DAVID SIMON Editor
David Simon teaches editing and other film and television production classes part time at the Midpen Media Center, where he also coproduces and directs Peninsula Backstage, a show highlighting local live theatre productions. Other film work includes shorts about environmental issues, music performance, and theatre.
BOB SITZWOHL Director of Photography
Filmmaker Bob Sitzwohl has twenty-five years of production experience in lighting and camera. After retiring from commercial work, his passion moved him to join a film coop and help others realize their projects. He recently completed Forgotten Faces, a documentary about free services available to homeless veterans and is in preproduction on a narrative short probing the life of a bipolar woman. He seeks to change people’s thoughts on social problems at a visceral level through the power of film.
